The objection to the DMK and other political parties to the release of Hollywood film DAM 999 is uncalled for and their anxiety that the release of this film would create law and order problem has no locus standi. On the contrary the film is well-timed and should be viewed as a highly educative one considering the likely holocaust that may cause in the event of anything untoward happening to Mullaperiyar Dam.

Mulla Periyar Dam
The issue needs to be looked beyond politics. The fear of the people about the safety of the dam has to be allayed. Both the state governments (Tamil Nadu and Kerala) and Union Government need to wake up and clear all doubts about the safety and security of the people.
